According to foreign media reports, the city of Bend in Oregon will begin to replace more than 2,000 existing public street lights with 3000K color temperature LED lamps, which aims to reduce energy costs, maintenance costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
The LED retrofit project is scheduled to continue until December. The renovation will take place on weekdays and may include weekends, usually from 7 am to 7 pm.
Officials said that a number of staff members are rushing to work, completing about 30 to 40 street lights every day. Each street lamp takes 20 to 30 minutes. Sometimes temporary traffic control is required. Sidewalks, bicycle lanes or on-street parking spaces near the workplace will be temporarily limit.
Although this project takes several months, the point is ↓↓↓
The city expects that the conversion of street lamps to LEDs will achieve a total energy savings of nearly 1 million kWh per year, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 619 tons per year.
In addition, maintenance costs are reduced because LED luminaires do not require periodic replacement of disposable components.
The municipal government said that the streetlight renovation project is one of several strategic energy management projects implemented by the city in 2019-2021.
